Indoor vs Outdoor Microgreen Growing

Consistency, hygiene, and quality control explained.

Control is Everything

Farming has traditionally been at the mercy of the weather. Too hot, too cold, too much rain, or a swarm of pests could ruin a crop. At Microbrotes.farm, we grow vertically indoors. This allows us to create the perfect "spring day" every single day of the year.

Hygiene & Safety

Outdoor growing exposes plants to birds, insects, and wind-blown dust. Since microgreens are eaten raw and are too delicate to be scrubbed vigorously, preventing contamination is crucial. Indoor vertical farming is a clean environment. We control the air, the water, and who enters the space. This results in a naturally cleaner product.

Sustainability Fact

Vertical farming uses up to 95% less water than traditional field farming. We recirculate water and lose very little to evaporation. We can grow acres' worth of food in a small room, preserving land for biodiversity.

Consistency

Chefs need reliable ingredients. They can't remove a dish from the menu just because it rained last week. Indoor growing ensures that our Radish microgreens taste exactly the same in December as they do in July. We control the light spectrum and intensity to optimize flavour and colour expression constantly.
